Dalit has the feel-goods!

dalitWe love the sound of Dalit Goods, a first time exhibitor for Autumn Fair International 2014 that offers a lovely selection of sustainably produced handcrafted candles, soaps and Indian spice sets, the proceeds of which help to support the company’s charitable work with street children and Dalit people of India.

This really is a company with a difference and the product range looks – and smells! – as good as it feels. We especially liked the look of these delicate Rose Pot candles, available in a Lavender scent with a hint of vanilla which is mixed within blended beeswax. This style comes individually boxed and burns for 40 hours.

spice setAlso catching our eye is the Essential Spice Set, which would make another lovely and unusual gift. The six different spices used in the sets are sourced directly to ensure the highest quality and freshest product from India. Delight in the scents and flavours of chili, coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger and black pepper, all boxed and contained in refillable glass jars.

For over 3000 years the caste system in India has meant that if you were born as one of the 250 million Dalits – also known as untouchables or outcastes – then your opportunities in life are extremely limited. That is limitations in education, health-care, employment, even where you can worship. This company helps to care for the people – especially the orphans – who need it most.
