JELC, global licensing agent for the Bamforth Vintage Collection, has announced that greeting card publisher Woodmansterne has been awarded a licence to produce a wide range of greeting cards based on the classic saucy seaside postcards that made Bamforth famous.
The launch range will be made up of words and images from 15 of the most famous postcards in Bamforth’s vast collection. It will be on sale from April through all good independent card retailers. More cards will be published in the coming months, adapted from a collection that numbers over 25,000 images, many of them classics in their own right. And the inside of all the cards will be blank for the sender’s own, no doubt entirely tasteful, message.
Paul Woodmansterne, MD of Woodmansterne, says: “Bamforth’s iconic seaside postcards bring together instantly recognisable images with cheeky double entendres. This particularly British sense of humour still raises a smile, and looks strangely naive to modern eyes – a nostalgic throw back to more innocent times when Britain retained its sense of ‘Pride & Joy’.”
