Independent Retailer Month beckons

Retailers celebrating Independent Retailer Month are encouraged to share their ideas for promotions, activities and events via facebook for a chance to win tickets to the launch event. Winners will receive a pair of free tickets to the inaugural Independent Retailer Month conference on 1st July 2012. Winners will be selected based on their innovation, the potential for their promotion to “go viral”, the ability for the idea to be replicated by others or on their engagement of their wider community.

Clare Rayner, UK lead for Independent Retailer Month and organiser of the launch event, said “Thanks to our sponsors we’re in a position to give away 5 pairs of tickets to the launch event. We want those retailers who have already got great ideas for activities, promotions and events to engage customers throughout July to share their thoughts via our facebook page in order to inspire others who might be struggling for ideas. We’ll reward our 5 favourites with a pair of tickets to the event”.

The independent retailer month UK launch conference takes place on Sunday 1st July and is the first event of its type. It has been specifically designed with the needs and wants of independent retailers in mind and features award winning independent retailer speakers, retail experts, a panel of representative from the official supporters (FSB, bira, ATCM, AMT & Skillsmart Retail), 1-2-1 “ask-the-expert” sessions and plenty of networking time. An additional bonus for those attending will be the chance to purchase a pre-launch copy of Clare Rayner’s book, “The Retail Champion: 10-Steps to Retail Success”, at a considerably discounted rate. Clare will be offering personal dedications and a signing for those who purchase the book at the event.

The launch event kick-starts Independent Retailer Month which provides smaller, consumer-facing businesses with a good reason, if ever they needed one, to create some excitement in their area, to engage with their local customers, and to remind shoppers of the great businesses in their area. Retailers are encouraged to connect with their town centre managers, FSB reps, other retailers, suppliers and local press to create a real buzz throughout July. By engaging consumers and reminding them of what’s right on their doorstep, the aim is to provide a campaign that enables retailers to increase footfall, sales and loyalty not only in July but all year round.
