Hilary Scoble has run Church Mouse Studio gallery in Hythe, Kent, for the past 12 years. This year she, her daughter Fiona, and her husband Richard launched Church Mouse Press, a greeting cards and prints business. All their cards are printed from Hilary and Fiona’s original watercolour illustrations.
Hilary was thrilled to be commissioned by the Body of Yeomen Warders to create their 2012 Christmas card. The Yeomen Warders are known for their distinctive outfits worn while on duty at the Tower of London. They are best known for their scarlet and gold dress uniforms, which are worn on state occasions. The Yeomen Warders are popularly known as the Beefeaters.
Hilary originally created the card design to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. A friend of the gallery, a wife of a retired Beefeater, sent the card to former colleagues at the Tower of London. They liked the design so much that they asked if it could be used for their Christmas card. Hilary was more than happy to add in a Christmas Tree and ‘Merry Christmas!’ to her original design, and everyone at Church Mouse Press is excited that the cards will now be sent by Yeomen Warders to friends and colleagues around the world.
Church Mouse Press currently stocks 70 different illustrated greeting cards. You can see all their designs on the website.
