Jane Asher to open The New Chelsea Art Fair

janeasher_helpusfindacureThe organisers of The New Chelsea Art Fair, which takes place between Thursday, April 11 and Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Chelsea Old Town Hall on the Kings Road, London SW3 are delighted to announce that Jane Asher will be opening the fair on Thursday, April 11 at 11am. The Fair will support two very worthy charities, Parkinson’s UK and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Jane, who is married to artist Gerald Scarfe, commented: “I have been a supporter of Parkinson’s UK for many years and am very proud to be President of this wonderful charity. And I’m delighted to have been asked to open this event: not only because, as the wife of an artist myself, art is a very important part of my life, but also because Parkinson’s UK has been a supporter of the arts for a long while.

“The charity runs its own awards – the annual Mervyn Peake Art Awards – and this partnership with the Fair is a perfect fit, especially as it is held immediately before Parkinson’s Awareness week, which begins on April 15th. . I’m sure this magnificent event will not only raise
some much needed funds for us but will also help to bring the charity to the forefront of people’s minds.”

Ben Cooper, Chelsea Art Fair’s director, says: “I am particularly delighted that we can support Parkinson’s UK as several of my relatives has been affected by Parkinson’s and I know how much difference art has made to their lives.”

In addition to Parkinson’s UK, the fair will also be supporting Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The New Chelsea Art Fair is a prime destination for art lovers, keen collectors and first-time buyers. 35 exhibitors from around the country and abroad, will show works by some of their best modern and contemporary artists. Some well-known, others new discoveries, but all works of art are specially selected to be first shown at this fair in London. The fair includes flat and three-dimensional works of art from respected galleries with prices ranging from £500 up to £20,000.

Open: Thursday, 11-9, Friday & Saturday 11-6, Sunday 11-5
Cost: £6 (with 50% going to the charities)
