Color blind Cards founder Jessica Huie wins Diversity Award

06-H2O-jessica-huie_243x403The founder of Colorblind Cards, Jessica Huie, won the Entrepreneurial of Excellence Award for Race in the 2013 Diversity Awards, which were announced on Friday September 20 at Queen’s Hotel in Leeds. Jessica attended the ceremony with her 15 year old daughter Monet, her inspiration for founding the company.

Color blind Cards is one of the UK’s most successful multicultural greeting card and gift companies, having made history in 2007 as the first publisher to secure a presence for a black card range in the UK high street.

Passionate about reinforcing self esteem in the next generation and celebrating identity, Color blind Cards was judged to be essential on a social level and opportune on a commercial level. The launch was widely covered by media from The Independent newspaper and Evening Standard to greetings trade press.

Not content with breaking new ground in the UK, Color blind cards were sold through a high school in South Africa with 50% of funds going directly to the school to fund tables and chairs.

Six years down the line and Color blind is set to launch on US multiple retailer Staples’ online store Staples.com and will enter Sainsbury’s later this year, another first for the card market and another welcome step towards increased diversity on the high street. Jessica is herself diversifying into gifts including clocks, baby bags, key rings and mouse mats and helping people earn extra cash or raise funds with her community trader scheme.
