Iconic brands Sheaffer, Post-it, Letts Filofax and Faber-Castell have signed up as sponsors of the National Stationery Week and Get Britain Writing campaign for 2014,
“This year’s Get Britain Writing campaign reached a huge global audience on Facebook and Twitter, and over 20 million people via radio, consumer magazines and the national and regional press” says organiser Chris Leonard-Morgan. “We expect the figures to be even higher next year with the support of our sponsors and the initiatives planned, and more retailers being involved.”
“There is growing evidence of the importance and relevance of writing by hand in today’s digital world. It isn’t a question of using just one or the other. The pleasure of receiving a handwritten note, card or letter cannot be overestimated.”
National Stationery Week, which runs from Monday 31 March to Sunday 6 April 2014 offers a unique sales opportunity for retailers, and is well-timed to take place just before the Easter holidays and Back to School spring season.
Ryman, Paperchase, Blott, The Pen Shop, Staples, Clintons, Websters Pen Shop, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s were among those who promoted this year’s event to their customers in-store, online and on social media together with independents such as The Paperie, Austin & Co, Pen and Paper, Manton Cards, Cult Pens, JL Nobbs and Bureau Direct.
“National Stationery Week was a hugely successful sales initiative for us this year” comments Colin McClymont, managing director of The Pen Shop. “Everyone loves stationery, and the brands that back this campaign give it additional kudos. We got our customers involved by running competitions online and on social media.”
Participating retailers will be listed on the National Stationery Week/Get Britain Writing website in March and April with links to their own websites, and will receive guidelines on some of the ways in which they can get involved.
