The lights are coming on don’t stay at home!

peabodyThis will be a sparkly week for UK with bonfire night this evening and the Regent Street lights due to be switched on at the weekend – yes, we’re THAT close to Christmas!

On Saturday November 9 the lights on London’s iconic shopping street will be switched on by Emmy award winning actor Ty Burrell (the voice of Mr Peabody in the 2014 animation Mr Peabody and Sherman) and Hollywood film director Tim Minkoff (Disney’s The Lion King). You can also expect live entertainment from X Factor starlet Leona Lewis, band Passenger and songstress Eliza Doolittle.

Heart Breakfast presenters Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton will host the family-friendly event that will hopefully kick-start a great Christmas shopping season.

The lights depict the upcoming Mr Peabody & Sherman, a new family comedy adventure which will be released by 20th Century Fox in the UK and Ireland on February 7th, 2014.

“We’re extremely excited to be sponsoring the biggest ever Christmas light display on Regent Street with our new family adventure comedy from Dreamworks Animation, Mr Peabody & Sherman,” said Chris Green, theatrical marketing director at 20th Century Fox. “On Saturday November 9th there will be an all-day road closure for VIPeabody Day which will include fun-filled entertainment for the entire family, with a fireworks display following the switch on moment.

“We can’t wait to introduce Mr Peabody & Sherman’s time travelling adventures; it’s a must see for the entire family.”

David Shaw, head of Regent Street portfolio at The Crown Estate, added: “Regent Street is thrilled about its Christmas lights partnership with 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks Animation. Mr Peabody & Sherman is a perfect match for our Christmas lights celebrations in that it supports our values of quality, heritage, style and success.”
