Two new licences kick-start big year for Matt Hatter

mad hatterITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has announced two major new UK and Ireland licensees for Platinum Films’ hit boys’ property, Matt Hatter Chronicles: London Europe Group and Tactic Games UK. Deals have been signed for stationery, puzzles and watches

The new partners will be showcasing their lines at the Toy Fairs in London and Nuremberg, and launching at retail from Q4 2014 as part of the first phase of the consumer products roll-out strategy for the brand. This will follow the debut of the Simba Dickie Group master toy lines at retail in Q3.

The London Europe Group is one of the UK’s leading suppliers and distributors of animated toys, plush toys, gadget products, innovative housewares and giftware. Their new Matt Hatter range, launching at Toy Fair (London Stand B96), will feature watches and clocks, as well as back-to-school stationery lines.

Also appearing at mass-market retail from late 2014 will be a selection of Matt Hatter puzzles from Tactic Games UK, one of the fastest developing marketers of board game products in Europe (London D109). The range will feature a selection of puzzles, some with 3D elements.

Trudi Hayward, SVP Head of Global Merchandising, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, says: “2014 is going to be an exciting year for Matt Hatter with series three premiering on CITV and the debut of exciting new product lines at retail. We’re excited to be working with a great raft of licensees, and with a strong appetite from retail, we’re confident the Matt Hatter licensing programme will continue to be as fast-moving as the hit show itself!”

A third series of Platinum Films’ Matt Hatter Chronicles launches on CITV this year following on from a successful two years which have seen its TV fan base build. With a carefully co-ordinated multi-territory consumer products rollout, the schoolboy hero is perfectly positioned to be a major player among global boys’ brands in 2014. London Europe Group and Tactic Games UK are joining a rapidly expanding programme of first class licensees that includes Penguin, Topps, Titan, Smith & Brooks, TDP Aykroyd, Character World, Pedigree, Trade Mark Collections, VMC and master toy licensee The Simba Dickie Group.
