Independent greeting card designer Alice Atwell launches new Rare & Obsolete range of cards based on hilarious defunct words
In her previous life as an English teacher, Alice Atwell founder and designer, Katherine Lawson, taught a module exploring the history of the English Language. The core of this was a weighty tome which set out all the ancient versions of words we use today.
Class after class delighted in discovering strange words which seemed new but which were actually very old. A lot more research led Katherine to stumble upon some little gems in the dusty corners of the English language, and Rare & Obsolete was born.
This collection of 17 cards combines archaic and delightful words with a comic attempt to use them in the modern idiom. They’re printed on thick, textured card and come with a brown fleck envelope, cello wrapped.
Rare & Obsolete sits alongside Alice Atwell’s other three ranges of cards, all of which can be found on the website: www.aliceatwell.com.

Hi,
I am working my way through a lot of card sites and you might like to know that the aliceatwell site is no longer up. Or rather it is now just a generic link site and you may not want to be linking to it.
I looked around on Google to see whether Katherine Lawson has another site but I can’t see one.
