Thank you Thursday has arrived!

hollyGifts & Greetings Review has just received word of a lovely card sending initiative that’s been kick-started by Design Design – with full support of the US Greeting Card Association, on the other side of the Atlantic.

Thank You Thursday is meant to promote writing thank you notes and also to spread gratitude in a troubled, time-poor world. The idea is simple: On any Thursday one is encouraged to write one or more thank you note to a neighbour, friend, colleague – anyone at all, in fact – to express gratitude for something that may be great or small.

Maybe somebody was there for you when you needed a shoulder to cry on, or perhaps they helped water your plants when you went on holiday. Maybe the lady at the supermarket always makes you feel happy with a smile, or maybe your  partner is so amazing you just want to say ‘thank you for being you’.

The opportunities to give thanks are endless so hopefully Thank you Thursday will roll and roll around the world. But remember, it’s all about the sentiment attached to a hand written note, emails, texts, twitter or FB posts won’t cut the mustard.

thankyouAs the UK GCA reveals research demonstrating the emotional power inherent in a greeting card, which can even help alleviate the pain of people suffering from depression, the time has come for more people to put pen to paper to show others how much they care.

Pictured above is a photograph from Ohio-based calligrapher Holly Monroe, calligrapher in Ohio, who has prepared for Thank You Thursday by laying out her notes and pens in advance!
