Exotic Marquetry from Paperblanks

Exotic Marquetry - WrapSpecialist producer of beautiful, sustainably produced writing journals, Paperblanks, has launched the new Exotic Marquetry range, a sumptuous demonstration of how inspirational furniture design can be transformed in the most unexpected of ways.

The luxurious range is inspired by 18th century cabinetry that features marquetry and inlaid panels reminiscent of the East Indies. Materials used in the Exotic Marquetry include, wood, metal, laminate, pearl, bone and precious stones set in a dark ebony.

This particular style is called Tarsia a Incastro or boulle marquetry, after French cabinetmaker André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732). He was Master cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV, and his furniture and pieces made in the boulle style are found in the world’s finest collections.
