An independent gift retailer has been named Home and Gifts Retailer of the Year for the second year running at the 2016 Chesterfield Retail Awards, which took place on 25 May.
Describing itself as ‘a shopping emporium within the unique small department store environment,’ Libby’s, which is based on Chatsworth Road in Chesterfield, was one of 14 retailers to scoop one of 18 prestigious awards at the sell-out ceremony.
The awards, which are organised by Destination Chesterfield, recognise the very best independent shops, high street stores and market traders in the north east Derbyshire town of Chesterfield.
Delighted to win the award, owner Libby Morris said: “To win the award a second time is absolutely fantastic. It’s down to the fact that I work with the best team in the world and I’m very, very lucky. We all work well together.
“My philosophy is simple: shopping should be a pleasurable and enjoyable experience. I travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe to source beautiful things, making sure that I meet the suppliers and understand their business ethics and practices. We’re different and our collection isn’t to be found everywhere. My team and I care passionately about our customers and I always buy with them in mind.”
Peter Swallow, Chairman of Destination Chesterfield said: “Once again the retail awards were a huge success and highlighted how strong Chesterfield’s retail scene is. The town has an excellent mix of independent and high street retailers as well as an historic market and a key reason why so many people, locally and nationally, visit each year. It’s a winning mix that consistently sees Chesterfield buck the trend for shop vacancy rates, contributing significantly to our growing economy.”
The annual awards are supported by members of the business community, who not only sponsored individual awards but also the actual ceremony.
