The new ‘Floreo’ greetings card range from The Great British Card Company has already raised over £18,000 for Perennial and Greenfingers Charity less than six months after its launch.
The card are now stocked in nearly 200 garden centres across the UK and every card sold generates a 10p donation for both charities.
Representatives from the Great British Card Company presented cheques for £9,000 each to Perennial and Greenfingers Charity on the first day of Glee trade on Monday 12 September. They also unveiled 12 new colourful card designs that will be added to the range. The card collection features sumptuous photography depicting a variety of colourful garden images from cut flowers and wildlife to garden scenes.
Chris Houfe, Sales Director of Great British Cards comments: “Our relationship with Perennial and Greenfingers has been brilliant from the start, and our enthusiasm to create a card range specifically to support them evolved quite naturally. Garden Centre retailers are a specialist trading sector for us, and ‘Floreo’ was able to gain impressive distribution countrywide, with consumers delighting in the fabulously colourful images and variety in design. On the back of this success we have launched twelve new designs at Glee with an autumnal/winter feel.”
The sale of licensed products is one way that Perennial generates essential funds that allow it to support horticulturists in crisis, whether they are facing problems caused by financial hardship, illness, injury, poverty or old age.
John Moseley, Head of Trading at Perennial comments: “It is fantastic that this range of greetings cards has already proved so popular with garden centre buyers and the public. We are grateful to the Great British Card Company for generating so much interest among the garden retail trade and now extending the range. By buying and sending these cards, people will raise vital funds to help us support those working in or retired from horticulture, as well as helping to raise awareness of the free, confidential advice and support we provide.”
Carol Paris, Chief Executive of the Horticultural Trades Association and Trustee of both charities was instrumental in bringing the partnership about. She comments: “This beautiful range of cards has been very popular with gardeners and has provided consumers with the satisfaction of knowing they are helping support two very worthwhile charities.”
Linda Petrons, Head of Fundraising at Greenfingers comments: “We are enormously grateful to the Great British Card Company and to Carol Paris for bringing this partnership together, and to all those garden centres who continue to support this fantastic fundraiser. The money raised really will make a huge difference to the lives of so many children and families who spend time in hospices.”
Last year Greenfingers launched its ‘A Million Moments Appeal’, aiming to raise £1 million, over the next three years. With the help of product promotions such as this, the charity is aiming to provide at least 5,000 children and their families that rely on hospices to enjoy spending precious time together outdoors.
The Floreo greetings cards are priced at £2.50 per card and are available to purchase at www.perennial.org.uk/greetings-cards.
