The top 30 online retailers of 2016

matchesRetail Week has compiled a list of the UK’s top 30 retailers based on the proportion of online sales they generate. None of the major grocers were included in the list, which did feature several fashion brands and department stores.

 

As consumers become increasingly addicted to the instant fix of buying clothes online, higher-end retailer Matchesfashion.com ranks first in the list, having completed its transformation from bricks-and-mortar through to multichannel success. 55.8 per cent of the retailer’s UK sales are generated online.

Better Bathrooms (50%), back from the brink photographic equipment specialist, Jessops (50%), Argos (49%)and luxury department store Fortnum & Mason (41%) were ranked in the next four places after Matchesfashion, with The White Company (40%), John Lewis (37.5%), Next (36%) and Lakeland (32.5%) completing the top ten.

Mint Velvet came in at number 11 (32%), followed by Evans Cycles (30%), Hobbs (25%), White Stuff (26.7%), Oak Furniture Land (26.5%), French Connection (23%), Jaeger (23%), Reiss (23%), Joules (22.9%), Liberty (22%), Whistles (22%), Ann Summers (21%), Laura Ashley (20.1%), All Saints (20%), Karen Millen (20%), Mountain Warehouse (20%), Urban Outfitters (20%), House of Fraser (18.9%), Ted Baker (18.5%) and Fat Face (18.1%).
