Tendence Talents, which can be seen within the exhibition from 24 – 27 June 2017, showcases a wonderful selection of handcrafted prototypes, unique items and small product series from fledgling designers and suppliers. The Talents will present their work in two sponsored areas at Tendence.
Modern Crafts: These are selected artisans whose unique items will be put on show in the Talents Modern Crafts area in Hall 9.0, where the focus will be on contemporary products, beyond the mainstream. Artistically crafted lamps will be exhibited alongside small pieces of furniture and porcelain items.
Blue Sunday (above left) is a porcelain series by Berlin designer Anna Badur. She applies the traditional underglaze cobalt blue colour in a playful way. Every piece is a unique item.
Czech designer Lenka Záhorkavá is developing, among other things, the glass-free pendant lamp ‘Light 1.0’ (right). To make this, she uses white porcelain, which has a translucent beauty. A special handmade process gives the lamp its extraordinary surface texture.
The special twisted appearance of the stool from NIU (left) is not immediately apparent. This small stool is made from ash, oak, walnut or with a varnished finish, and it combines traditional craftsmanship with exciting design. In addition to the stool, the Swiss label also produces a variety of side tables and benches with the ‘Twist’ feature.
Accessories & Jewellery: Leather working, as well as the crafts of gold- and silversmithing, are the focus of attention in the Talents Accessories & Jewellery area. It is here that hand-picked designers put their jewellery and accessory creations in the spotlight. From prototypes to small product series, retailers visiting Hall 11.1 will have the opportunity to source specific highlights for their product ranges.
The product portfolio of the exhibition area includes archaically geometric rings, trendsetting
shoes wound from cord, and brooches which seem to come from the depths of the ocean.
The creations of Q Architektural in the jewellery section combine geometric shapes from contemporary architecture with archaic-looking stone and metal compositions. The Portuguese design company creates design contrasts with its precious items for the hand, finger and wrist and the company also embellishes shoes with elegant designs.
Stuttgart designers, June-Noa Gschwander and Robin Kuhnle, have created a completely new design vocabulary with their products. Using an innovative winding process, the duo manufactures three-dimensional clothing, shoes and spectacles instantaneously
Hundreds of moving acrylic beads go to make up brooches, bracelets, necklaces and rings. Put together entirely by hand by British jewellery creator, Li Wanshu, the pieces have an almost maritime appearance, which is heightened by luminescent nylon and colour.
Other exhibits include highly innovative products from selected Italian designers and craftspeople, who are showcasing their work as part of both Talents areas.
Tendence (24 to 27 June 2017) is Germany’s most international order venue for the second half of the year. The wide-ranging product portfolio covers fields of the home, furnishing, decorating, gifts, jewellery, fashion accessories, home textiles and outdoor living. Special shows and a wide-ranging complementary programme of events are multi-faceted sources of sales
-boosting impulses for retailers.
Strong brands and key communicators use this new-products platform to present their trends for the winter and Christmas season. At the same time, they give bulk buyers from the international trade the chance to place orders in good time for their spring and summer collections.
