Do Dutch at Ambiente 2018

Ambiente is laying a foundation for a dynamic international trading season – with the Netherlands as a partner country, an innovative  Business Matchmaking Programme, a Point of Experience and B2B  platforms for contract business. From 9 to 13 February the 2018 edition of Ambiente will deliver a large number of market stimuli and provide information through a practically focused support programme.

Running under the name “DO DUTCH”, the presentation of the partner country will invite Ambiente visitors to encounter a distinctly Dutch product culture and the thoughts of its makers. The industrial designer and curator Robert Bronwasser will be using consumer goods from the Netherlands for this purpose, placing them in a new and surprising context and presenting them in a way that is minimalistic yet colourful.

“I want to create a unified work of art that combines products in a typically Dutch way: abstract, minimalist ic and experimental – hopefully as a starting point for a lively discussion. For me,” says Bronwasser, “Dutch design means putting form and function in a new context.” The most important “Do Dutch”, exhibit at the presentation will be a gigantic wardrobe. The design is based on geometric patterns of lines and bright colours. It pays tribute to the famous Dutch art movement De Stijl, founded 100 years ago. Both sides of this architectural work of art provide space for a selection of modern Dutch design.

A new Business Matchmaking service at Ambiente will facilitate contact between manufacturers and buyers at an earlier stage, before the actual tradeshow, enabling visitors to see who the exhibitors will be and contact them ahead of time. Exhibitors, in turn, can see who will be among the visitors and can invite them to their stands. Also, there is a clearly structured online platform for the planning of meetings. In addition, the Matchmaking Team provides support with questions and problems. Anyone with an Ambiente ticket is automatically included in
the Business Matchmaking Programme and can log in with their trade fair access details which they already have at this stage. All other retailers and buyers can register for the programme in advance and free of charge.

Situated in Hall 4.1, there will be a new special area at Ambiente with the focus on the changing world of trade. It will run under the heading “Point of Experience”, showing how product presentations can attract attention in the digital age. The world’s leading trade fair for the consumer goods industry is a presentation platform for a wide range of international manufacturers targeting hotels, restaurants and cafés as well as contract business.

Over 290 exhibitors made Ambiente 2017 the hotspot for hotels, restaurants, cafés and contract business Numerous professionals and decision-makers come from this industry, such as project developers, professional buyers, furnishers, interior decorators, interior designers, caterers and the high-end hotel industry, making use of the wide range on offer and receiving stimuli for their own businesses. Moreover, any new trends that are found can be ordered straightaway, at the trade fair itself.

The Global sourcing area has developed into a well established dimension in international volume business. Around 1,500 exhibitors from 55 nations will showcase their products at Ambiente, under the headings of Global Sourcing Dining, Global Sourcing Living and Global Sourcing Giving. Frankfurt is thus the number one trading location for volume business outside China. Short routes are available, covering the entire volume business from countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Hong Kong, Morocco, the Philippines, South Africa and Vietnam. The Global Sourcing area enables visitors to look specifically for professional contacts and order directly from manufacturers.

As always, Ambiente 2018 will feature the most important trends in dining, cooking, living and giving. The stylish and prestigious design studio Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano has researched four trend domains and will be presenting these at a major special exhibition. The Ethical Style Guide will provide information on sustainable and ethically manufactured consumer goods at Ambiente. It uses a range of categories, providing orientation in a highly complex global segment and enabling visitors to find the stands of ethical and/or sustainable manufacturers represented at Ambiente.

Buyers looking for original product ideas will enjoy the Talents and Next areas. Talents will feature creative products in three areas: Dining in Hall 4.0, Loft in Hall 11.0 and Fashion Accessories in Hall 9.2. The Next areas will also benefit young, creative businesses wanting to become further established. They are another regular fixture among Ambiente’s support activities, enabling newcomers to present their first collections in Halls 9.2, 11.0 and 11.1.

Visitors will find numerous smart ideas at the special Solutions presentation. The designer and curator Sebastian Bergne will demonstrate creative solutions of Ambiente exhibitors with the focus on dining, cooking and household goods. Selected products with special key features will be shown in a number of short video clips.

The German Design Award will be presented on the first day of the trade fair, and visitors will be able to view the award-winning products at a highly attractive exhibition. Ambiente will also feature the Kitchen Innovation Award and the Plagiarius anti-award for product piracy
