One of the most delightful new companies we’ve discovered recently is ID Ireland, which combines top quality craftsmanship with an ingenious new product idea which raised the bar on personalisation.
This lovely and creative family business was started by founder, Dee McMahon, in a garden shed, where it brought together over fifteen years of experience across a broad range of disciplines, such as interior design, furniture and product design, graphic design and laser-cutting technology.
Whilst ID Ireland offers a number of charmingly crafted gifts, including beautiful animal keyrings and miniature wooden toolkits, sheds and other miniatures, ideal for men, we think it’s the personalised musical pieces that are the real showstoppers.
Designed to be commissioned by customers instore at higher-end gift shops, specialist music stores and galleries, the pieces consist of framed wooden miniatures of famous musical instruments – such as the guitar used by Prince in Purple Rain – which are crafted by hand then personalised with a special message for the recipient and details of their favourite instrument.
Dee emphasised the authenticity of the reproductions, which are precisely modeled on the actual instruments used by legendary musicians in their world-famous compositions, which so far have also included the saxophone used by Gerry Rafferty on Baker Street, The Piano played by Ludovico Einaudi on I Giorni and the guitar played by Van Morrison on Tupelo Honey.
ID Ireland will exhibit at the British Craft Trade Fair from April 7-9 at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate.
