A Bath fortune teller who uses asparagus to make her predictions has revealed there will be a resurgence of the independent retail sector in 2020. Her welcome news follows hot on the heels of correct predictions regarding the outcome of the Referendum and Cricket World Cup.
64 year-old Jemima Packington, the world’s only ‘Asparamancer’ throws asparagus in the air then sees how they land to predict the future. Jemima commented: “There will be a resurgence of independent retailers and smaller shops – Shop Local will start to mean something again.”
She also predicts a second term in office for Donald Trump, but says he will face impeachment again and be removed from office. Brexit, she has forecast, will happen smoothly and she sees more royal births but also a royal bereavement coming up in 2020.
Jemima gave her predictions on This Morning, revealing that the asparagus told her Megan and Harry would welcome twins. She told the presenters:
“When I cast the asparagus, it creates patterns and it is the patterns I interpret. I’m able to interpret the patterns left by the asparagus. I am usually about 75-90 per cent accurate with my predictions. I go through my predictions each year and think: ‘Yep, that’s happened, yep, that’s happened.’ Occasionally I get one slightly off, where I haven’t quite read it correctly, but I’m never far off.”
The Asparamancer claims to have inherited the gift from an aunt who used to read tea leaves. She also foretold the Oscar win for A Star is Born and the closure of Mothercare and Thomas Cook. At this year’s Oscars ceremony she predicts that “the youngest person ever to win will be heralded as an acting talent of the future.” The BBC license fee she says will be scrapped and wholesale educational reform is on the horizon for the UK. “The interest in veganism will plateau as people will find it difficult to embrace no animal products being consumed. And The Vale of Evesham asparagus will be heralded as the most prized vegetable worldwide”.
