Putting the fun into functional gifts for International Women’s Day

Suffolk designer, Tamara Hunt, of Fanny’s Your Aunt (FYA), is putting the fun back into functional gifts for women at BCTF 2020, which opens from April 5 – 7 at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

FYA’s made in Britain product range includes aprons, notebooks, postcard gift boxes, greeting cards and wrapping paper, created in bright colours and bold prints, interspersed with empowering messages for women. Starting out in 2018 with a range of traditional hand-held fans, FYA is launching it’s new range of gift products on International Women’s Day 2020 (8 March).

Tamara says: “I love being able to take something from a word or phrase that comes to me while I am out walking, from a conversation, or reading a newspaper, magazine or book, to mixing it with vibrant colours and motifs and it transforming into something fun yet empowering. The icing on the cake is seeing it out there in the market place connecting with people. That’s when I know that I have struck a chord, that I have given someone a voice.

“At FYA we believe in empowerment and conservation, so we are sponsoring the education of a young girl in Togo through Plan International and, as our hand-held-fans and Kindle and iPad covers are made overseas, we are donating a percentage of profits from the sale of two of our fan designs to the World Land Trust”.

BCTF is the largest and most well-established event of its kind, focusing exclusively on high quality, British made artisan products across categories which include handmade ceramics, porcelain, fashion accessories and jewellery, glass, metalwork, woodwork, textiles, greetings cards and fine art. Visitors will have the chance to browse and buy from an unrivalled selection of products, straight from authentic British designer-makers and small independent companies.
