As individuals and companies around the world struggle to make ends meet, things are particularly tough in Sr Lanka. There is an island-wide curfew with only the occasional respite to allow food shopping. This on top of the severe downturn in tourism last year means it is imperative for the Sri Lankan government to generate foreign currency particularly for the purchase of medical supplies.
Only a few factories have been allowed to reopen for export production and eco-friendly toy manufacturer, Tikiri, which has turned to making facemasks in an effort to get through the crisis whilst also doing something useful for others, has very fortunately been granted a permit.
