UK contemporary designer-makers portfolio, Design Nation, is proud to announce an amazingly talented new group of members, which were recently selected by an independent panel of industry professionals. Twenty-two makers and designers impressed the vigorous panel, the biggest new cohort of members for many months.
Applications were particularly strong from those working with glass and Design-Nation is delighted to welcome no less than seven new glass artists: Angie Packer, C M Glass Designs, Elin Isaksson, Helen Slater Stokes, Martin Donlin, Benefield Spencer Glass and Susan Kinley. They also welcome impressive textile designers making innovations in weave: Chloe Scott, Fiona J Sperryn, Hannah White and KULU. Ceramicists and potters have always been a strength in the Design-Nation portfolio and they are now joined by Alison Brown, Caroline Couzens, Harriet Caslin, Jenny Chan, Kirsty Adams and Rebecca Proctor.
Other new members are all making very distinctive works in a range of exciting media: Andy Elton sculpts in metal and stone; Anne McKenzie makes hand painted Japanese paper banners; Emily Jo Gibbs layers and stitches delicate portraits and still lifes in organza; Faye Hall’s jewellery incorporates embroidery on surprising sustainably-sourced materials, like ebony, linoleum and leather; and Porter + Trundle create award-winning contemporary furniture in timber and brass.
