Louise Rimmer talks to Home & Giftware Magazine about Bedazzled, her inspired mix of drinks and greetings cards!
“After more than 25 years working in the alcohol gifting category and dealing with major brands and retailers I decided to launch my own business in 2018 and set up Boxstar Creative Ltd. I had a vision to design and develop my own range of alcohol gifts (rather than doing this for other gifting companies) so just needed to take a leap of faith and go for it. I knew I had some good ideas and a wealth of experience to pull ranges together, what I hadnt expected was how terrified I would be to put my ideas in front of buyers and businesses for fear of rejection or criticism. Many of these were actually people I had dealt with in the past so I felt immense pressure to succeed!
“Despite the extremely punishing schedule the risk has been worthwhile, I have pushed myself to the limit learning from mistakes and ultimately achieving what I set out to achieve. It has not been easy bu I have a very supportive family who have been by my side all the way, offering encouragement and support without which I probably wouldn’t have lasted 6 months. I am really happy with how things are going now and hopefully the business will go from strength to strength over the next couple of years.
“Whilst working for a contract gift packing company in Bradford I came across a shimmer product being packed into sachet format for a gift. I did some research and discovered this same product was used in the bottling of liquids to create a shimmer effect. That little sachet of shimmer became the main focus of my business plan at a time when I was looking to set up my own company. Once I set up Boxstar Creative I then registered the brand Bedazzled® as I had lots of exciting ideas for the shimmer product. Initially, I launched a range of bottleneck gift tags containing the shimmer sachet however more recently I launched the exciting and innovative range of slogan based Bedazzled® greetings cards, each one containing a sachet of sparkly Bedazzled® drinks shimmer inside
“There are 12 cards in our range at present, covering events such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Birthday’s and of course Christmas. I mean… Christmas is too sparkly said no one ever!
“We have used 3 of our most popular shimmer colours from the Bedazzled® shimmer for drinks range. Our pink candy silk shimmer, the aqua blue silk shimmer and our stunning rose gold sparkle shimmer. More designs will be added to our range in 2021 we will also be looking to introduce our violet crush silk and gold lust sparkle shimmers offering our customers lots more options to choose from.
“We have designed our greetings cards to really showcase the shimmer that is enclosed inside the card. All cards will also be supplied with a bold roundell sticker in the top right corner that clearly explains to potential customers that the card contains drinks shimmer for 8-10 servings (not a single serve sachet!). We believe the quality of our product and the number of servings provided more than justify our cards £5 RSP.
“Instructions for use are printed inside each card: Bedazzle your bubbly by adding a pea size amount of shimmer to your glass before topping up with your favourite tipple. Watch the magic happen!”
