Hamleys’ top ten Christmas toy predictions

Iconic toy retailer, Hamleys, has announced its top ten Christmas toy predictions for 2021, revealing the toys they predict will be at the top of Santa’s wish list this year, including a number of items that will encourage families to spend time playing together over the festive season.

The top 10 list includes:

Playmobil City Action Police Special Operations Police Robot, £20
Shifu Orboot (Earth): The Educational AR Globe, £50
Magic Mixies Cauldron, £70
Mattel – Barbie Dream House, £310
LOL Surprise Movie Magic Doll, £11
Ralleyz Warrior 3 in 1 RC, £90
Lego Super Mario Adventures Luigi Starter Course, £50
Hasbro Nerf Elite Flip 2.0 8, £25
Huggables Range, £20
Hamleys Dicii Snakes and Ladders, £14

The head of buying at Hamleys, Victoria Kay, said: “Our 2021 top picks for the most wanted toys this Christmas include accessible toys that will really allow children to harness their creativity and imagination. From the innovative and creative to the digital and classic toys on offer, we can see imagination really playing its part this year, bringing in-person ‘together-play’ back for the festive season. Creating Christmas magic feels more important this year than ever, and we think the top 10 toys will have families playing and creating memories together for Christmas and beyond.”

The predictions have come as retailers across different sectors encourage shoppers to consider buying early to beat potential supply chain problems that could lead to shortages of popular products as we head towards Christmas. There is already evidence that panic buying has already begun, with brands such as Barbie and Lego selling at like wildfire ahead of the usual peak trading period for toys.

Price hikes are also hitting consumers this year, with the cost of products leaving factories in China more than 10 per cent higher compared with the same time last year, the highest rise in 26 years. The increases are affecting products that include white goods, electronics, furniture and games consoles.
