The British Craft Directory opens for applications

The British Craft Directory is now open to applications from all designer-makers who are producing their work here in the United Kingdom.

A new initiative of well known online show developer, Denre Bruins and Media professional, Charlotte Cowell, BCD offers an unrivalled opportunity for independent British companies to get their work in front of an excellent audience of trade buyers at a fraction of the cost required of other routes to market.

Mr Bruins commented: “After years of working on physical exhibitions and printed magazines – and like so many other people in this industry – we were forced to rapidly – and radically! – change our business model during lockdown. Thanks to our expertise on both the technical side and within the home, gift and crafting industry we were able to come up with a best-in-class digital platform which helped many well known British and overseas exhibitions to stay afloat during lockdown”.

For a basic annual fee of just £35 per annum, designer-makers can create a beautiful online profile that will be promoted to thousands of retailers who’ve expressed a definite interest in stocking British handmade products. This will be achieved through a combination of email and social media marketing and – in due course – digital events which will be within the budget of even the smallest and youngest of companies.

With around 100 designers already signed up, BCD already offers the best online trade sourcing platform for buyers in search of beautiful British handicrafts and there is room for as many more as wish to join the great British Craft family.

Charlotte added: “We are really excited that we are now in a position to offer this trade marketing solution to the British craft industry, which we care so passionately about. This is a very tough time for the retail industry in particular and SMEs in general, so we have made this as affordable and inclusive as we possibly can. Our members can benefit from our excellent marketing database, put together over many years working in this industry and magazine publishing.

“We invite all those lovely British designer-makers who are wondering how on Earth they’re going to manage a marketing budget under the present circumstances to give us a try. You won’t find a team more dedicated to promoting British crafts to the widest possible retail audience”.
