Hillier Garden Centres acquires Rosebourne

Hampshire-based Hillier Garden Centres has announced that it has acquired the Rosebourne Ltd group of destination garden centres on Tuesday 8th November. The acquisition brings Hillier group to a total of 22 garden centres.

Chris Francis, Hillier wholesale and retail director, comments: “We are delighted to be adding Rosebourne with its three fantastic garden centres to our business. We are looking forward to getting to know the Rosebourne teams and their local gardening communities and inspiring them with our great range of quality Hillier plants. This acquisition continues the rapid growth the company has seen over the last few years and makes it well equipped to move forwards confidently into the future”

Carol Paris and Charles Good from Rosebourne comment. “We are delighted that we have been able to secure a sale to Hillier with such a strong horticultural pedigree and a family run business. We share a very similar company ethos and values, with the customer at the heart of all we do. We believe both companies will benefit from this collaboration and look forward to seeing the Rosebourne centres enter a new and exciting era.”

The acquisition of Rosebourne, which operates across three sites at Weyhill, Aldermaston and Hampton in Arden, comes on the back of a consistent period of growth for Hillier, which has developed from 12 garden centres in 2019 to 22 garden centres and an online shop today. Hilliers more recent acquisition prior to Rosebourne was of Ducks Hill (Ruislip) in January of this year.

Hampshire based Hillier Nurseries has a wide range of home-grown plants which will soon be arriving in the Rosebourne garden centres.

In the year to August 2021 Hillier group had sales of £51m with a profit before tax of £10.7m, including a property gain of £4.6m.
