Umbellifer spreads its wings!

Stephen Lennon is now into his fifth year of trading as Umbellifer, but the botanically-minded owner of the Yorkshire greetings card brand thinks he is only just getting into his stride.

“Looking back to the launch in late 2018, I don’t think I really knew what it would take to make a successful card business – how big a range I would need, the differing styles and formats stockists wanted, and how reliability and great communication were as important as great design.”

With the addition of four new designs to his Everyday Botanicals range and the recent launch of Umbellifer’s Winter Flowers and Wildfowl & Wetland ranges, Stephen feels a new confidence that he is not only producing better work but work that is much more attuned to specific markets, seasons and trends. “I feel that I know what direction to take and how Umbellifer might develop further as time goes on. I also think the greetings card industry is a fun and exciting world to be involved in and, despite the much discussed problems this industry and retail world as a whole faces, feel very optimistic about my future in it”.

Umbellifer will be taking part in the Curated Craft online trade event from the 19th to the 21st of March and brand new trade show Artisan Made in Skipton on the 25th and 26th of March 2023.
