After another year as GIMA’s chosen charity, Greenfingers – the charity behind almost 70 therapeutic garden spaces at children’s hospices across the country – has recently received over £20,000 from the garden manufacturers trade association.
The amazing fundraising total of £20,350 is the result of several key activities including, most recently, the GIMA Awards which saw the evening’s Hozelock-sponsored table raffle and More People-sponsored main raffle raise over £4,750, with guests bidding for the chance to win a sound bar or Apple iPad.
Adding to the pot was an additional £1,600. This money was raised by a special auction that took place following the GIMA Awards judging day in July, with many entrants to the 2023 awards kindly donating their product samples to help raise much-needed funds.
This level of generosity echoed that of the guests and players at the GIMA Golf Day in June, where an incredible £14,000 was raised! An ever-popular day in the GIMA calendar, the golf day welcomed 100 players as well as guests from across the industry, coming together for a day of fierce competition and fundraising for the Greenfingers Charity.
Jenny Douthwaite, GIMA President, who selected Greenfingers as the 2023 GIMA charity beneficiary said: “The work that the Greenfingers Charity undertake every day is incredible, with gardening at the heart of the magic it creates. Being able to shine a light on their work, bring together our members to raise essential funds and to show our ongoing support for the charity always makes for an action packed and thought-provoking calendar of events. Our thanks to all those that have helped us to reach such a superb fundraising total.”
