2025 Festive Trends

The seasons have well and truly turned into autumn and up and down the nation gift, home and garden retailers are planning festive shop windows, decorative merchandise and Santa’s grottoes, as they wonder what the must-have products for Christmas shopping and décor will be this season. Garden Centre Buyer looks at the festive trends that will help attract shoppers to spend their pennies and pounds with you in the run up to Christmas.

Seamless Autumn-Winter transition

The Autumn Equinox is a watershed moment that not only heralds the season of ancient mysteries back to school and Halloween, but also the onset of Christmas shopping. The change of wardrobe required by the seasonal shift is paralleled by a desire to refresh our home décor as we hunker down for the longer nights.

According to House Beautiful, “The autumnal aesthetic is making its mark on Christmas decorating. This cosy crossover trend has been quietly gathering pace over the past few years, driven by our growing enthusiasm for getting festive earlier than ever”.

Forestcore motifs such as mushrooms, toadstools and, pinecones – already popular in their own right – can be warmed up with autumnal tones of ochre, russet, golden browns and pumpkin-hues. A seamless transition to winter can be achieved by the subtle addition of apricot and salmon pink poinsettias, nature-inspired garlands, wreaths and other decorative elements that herald the start of Advent.

A rustic yet refined contemporary take on Forestcore blends effortlessly into the pet-loving British appetite for all things animal related. Cute and whimsical animals, from the woodland, farmyard, ocean, mountains and fields make wonderful decorations that can be either humorously characterised or with naturalistic charm.
