Blue Diamond has confirmed that it will lease a garden centre that used to be called World’s End, at a former Dobbies site in Aylesbury. Dobbies will end its tenture on 2nd March and Blue Diamond is hoping to reopen the garden centre a week later, bringing its portfolio of stores to a milestone number of 50.
All staff currently working at World’s End will be offered jobs with Blue Diamond. Negotiations over the fixtures, fittings and kitchen equipment between Dobbies and Blue Diamond are ongoing.
This is the third garden centre that Blue Diamond has taken over from Dobbies, whilst British Garden Centres is racing to snap up more sites from the failed multiple.
Alan Roper, the Director Channel Islands-based business, Blue Diamond, has commented that World’s End has traditionally been a very busy garden centre with sales of around £10mn.
