Typo moves into UK retail

typoAustralian stationery and home accessories retailer, Typo, is to open its first UK store in Westfield, Stratford, in December 2016. Typo has almost 150 stores in ten countries and ships globally through its ecommerce site.

The move into British bricks and mortar retail follows on from Typo’s venture into the British online market in April 2016, which was phase one of the Cotton On group venture into Europe.

Strong web sales prompted the swift move into Typo’s first UK department store outlet, where the company will sell travel and home accessories, crafting items, gadgets and gift cards alongside an extensive stationery offering.

Typo bills itself as a unique and fun lifestyle destination and Britain is the twelfth country to have been penetrated by the expanding company. Creative Manager, Luke Slattery, envisaged success for Typo in the UK given the unique product offering and accessible price point.

Typo’s UK Logistics Manager heads up the operation from a distribution centre in Kent, with product development, trend forecasting, buying and campaigns being led from the Cotton On’s head office in Australian city Geelong.
