Glass Tulip 2021 Award Winners

During an online broadcast held on December 10 the winners of the Glazen Tulp (Glass Tulip) awards for 2021 were announced in The Netherlands during the Day of the Cooperative.

Since April 2020, growers were invited to submit their products for the Glazen Tulp, and the audience could vote for their favourite product or concept. From the selection chosen by the public, the professional jury then choose and announced winners in the five categories. The full list of winners is as follows:

In the Concepts category the Tillandsia in design frame by Ansu was selected for its “Industrial look, fantastic design and it fits perfectly in the trendy zeitgeist”.

In the Cut Flowers category the Talinum paniculatum Long John from Marginpar, described as a “fantastic new product”, won the day.

In the Green Houseplants category, Calathea ‘Fusion White’ by Nursery Tass b.v. was this year’s winner. “A trendy plant because of the pastel-coloured pink in its leaves. Certainly fits in the zeitgeist now”.

In the Flowering Houseplants category, Ter Laak Orchids is the winner. “It is very difficult to innovate in this cultivar, but they succeeded!”

In the Garden Plant, Corydalis Porcelain Blue Van Woudenberg Garden plants, developed by Hillier Nurseries, was the winner. “Corydalis Porcelain Blue is a beautiful, blue appearance” according to the expert jury. #2The long continuous-flowering Van Woudenberg Garden Plants is the rightful winner of the Glass Tulip – Garden Plant. Well done!”
