Pulse shows a strong Heartbeat

There were some gorgeous new greetings cards and gifts on display at Clarion Events’ Pulse exhibition, which took place at Earl’s Court in London from June 10 – 12.

Pulse has grown by 7 per cent since 2011 and provided a route to market for 600 brands at the 2012 show, including 163 companies exhibiting within the Launchpad area for special new, design-led companies.

Of the fabulous greetings and stationery on display we particularly liked the sumptuous Japanese silk screen cards, wrap and paperback notebooks offered by Esmie (right) – all handmade in England – while the wonderful Vintage Curiosities of Siobhan Di Rienzo, who produces cardsbased on vintage fabric designs, also caught the eye.

Stunning fabrics and humorous, higher-end arty creations were also prominent on the Play Clan stand, along with funky ceramics and other giftwares. Rosie Wonders also had some lovely new card ranges, while Superfumi’s colourful card and gift designs jumped out from aisles. It was also nice to see a return of the great designer Camilla Hall of Whitespace Designs

Our passion for home fragrances was satisfied in multiple ways by the impressive variety on offer at this year’s show.

Some favourites in this category included the stylish Abahna range and the marvellous array of luxurious brands offered via The Renovation Store. N V Candles (top) had a lovely collection of handmade in the UK eco-soy wax products.

Capturing our hearts on the gift front were the adorable Zuny home accessories (left), which are eco-friendly to boot, created from materials ‘which will not be harmful to sacred nature’. We loved them!

Also  on the ethical tip were the greetings and gifts created by Art House Meath, a social enterprise project that celebrates the artistic talents of adults living with epilepsy, with 100% of profits going to the Meath Epilepsy Trust.

Pulse is always an inspirational show, a great place to spot talented British designers, and we certainly weren’t disappointed. For more information on some of the exhibitors and further product details visit the website.
