If you’re into ceramics then you can’t miss seeing the amazing work of British designer Vanessa Conyers, who will exhibit at Top Drawer Spring, due to take place from January 12 – 14 at Earl’s Court, London, Stand DG2.
“If Marie-Antoinette was a piece of pottery, she would look like one of Vanessa Conyers’ designs. Pretty, lavish, layered, textured and completely individual, her pieces look too precious to use, each one of them a work of art” Emilie Lemons, Glass Magazine.
British designer Vanessa Conyers’ light as a feather ceramics are lovingly designed and handmade in Dorset on the south coast of England. Her ceramic collections shimmer with gilded decadence, inviting the beholder into an Alice in Wonderland style world of the fantastic and the beautiful. Her designs can be used (with an air of indulgent luxury), or simply treasured as heirlooms, admired for their quaint nostalgia and unique elegance.
Each piece is assembled from sheets of finely rolled earthenware paper clay, inscribed with vintage lace and skilfully constructed into cups, jugs, bowls and vases. The form is delicately dropped until it begins to collapse and then layered with paint, mono-print, glaze, and traditional enamel decals. Collections are finished with a sumptuous edging of gold lustre and washes of mother of pearl, resulting in Vanessa’s signature iridescent finish.
New designs for Spring 2014 are bold and bright, with a red- based addition to the Secret Garden collection as well as new lines in the best selling Marjorie’s Drawers collection. Vanessa will also be launching her new black and gold gift boxes at Top Drawer Spring 14, which turn her products into beautiful and well- protected gifts.
