The concept and timing of Tendence were reviewed in Spring 2016, in close cooperation with the market, to bring the Frankfurt fair more closely in line with the needs of all participants. As a result of the consultation the show will take place during the last week in June from 2017 onwards.
The aim of organiser Messe Frankfurt is to make Tendence the preferred new-products venue for the German and European trade and, therefore, more attractive for exhibitors and visitors from home and abroad.
Stephan Kurzawski, Senior Vice President, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition, explains: “With the new concept and staffing changes, we are giving the sector the opportunity to once again make Tendence a genuine must for exhibitors and visitors.
“Tendence is one of the major challenges in the German and European fair and exhibition landscape. However, we are now in a good position to revitalise the fair in a consumer-goods sector that has undergone a severe process of structural change both nationally and internationally for many years.”
The new concept has three main components. Firstly, it is essential to take advantage of existing growth opportunities for one of Messe Frankfurt’s longest-running events. This will be achieved by rounding off the fair with new product segments at the same time as expanding existing ones.
Secondly, permanently bringing the dates of the event forward to the end of June / beginning of July, i.e., before all other seasonal fairs in Europe, will effectively strengthen the new-products character of Tendence.
“Buyers wanting to be the first to see and order genuine new products for the busy winter and Christmas season will have to come to Frankfurt. And the dates of the order fairs aimed at the retail trade show clearly that holding the fair at the end of June / beginning of July will work for this target group as well as international buyers”, says Philipp Ferger, Group Show Director Tendence.
Thirdly, Tendence should once again become the meeting place for the international bulk-buying trade, which comes to Frankfurt to put together its assortments for the spring and summer season for the following year. This conceptual aspect also requires the fair to be moved forward to the early summer.
Tendence 2016 will run from 27 – 30 August. The dates planned for Tendence in the coming years are:
24 to 27 June 2017
30 June to 3 July 2018
29 June to 2 July 2019
