History On Glass:  Where historic glass and contemporary design unite

Historic trends in home and giftware have always been popular.  We have seen over the years how  maximalist decor and  period aesthetics have  grown, with customers looking for something  that can be enjoyed beyond a seasonal theme.

History On Glass is a new venture from professional crafter Jen Hacker, who has combined her love of church-stained glass with modern design techniques.  The result? stunning stained glass effect panels featuring  the  beauty  of pre-Raphaelite and Victorian design, re-imagined for today’s  home and giftware market.

The main obstacles when admiring stained glass in-situ are not only the ravages of time, but the supporting struts and grills  that obscure and detract from its  beauty.  Jen says: “I use modern graphic  design techniques to remove these obstructions, restoring  the light and vibrancy.  I focus on what moves me with a design.   It  could be a specific angel, a beautiful, serene face, or how the colours change when the sun moves over the glass throughout the day.”

The designs are sublimated onto tempered glass, making the panels more durable for modern living than untreated glass.  Edged and finished with decorative metal corners, they create a homage to history that sits comfortably  with  any style of home décor.    Each panel comes complete with a stand, ready to take centre stage in the home.   The core range of 30cm x 20cm panels is complemented by coaster sets and ‘mini panels’,  perfect for point of sale purchases.

“I am excited for the future of History On Glass.  As it grows, I plan to include more designs and larger panel sizes and shapes.   There are so many more ethereal delights waiting,  I look forward to sharing them.” See Jen’s portfolio on the British Craft Directory for trade buyers.
