Brand Licensing Europe has revealed the six finalists of the 2018 License This! competition. For the first time this year there are two award categories: Character & Animation and Brand & Design. The winers will be chosen during an event at the Brands & Lifestyle Theatre at BLE on Thursday 11 October at 12.30pm. All show visitors are welcome to attend. The three Character & Animation category finalists are:
Gail Grisham – a vintage doll that shares updates about her life on social media and makes comic observations which mothers especially will relate to. (pictured)
Oddcats – a pre-school property created by Zara Picken. Oddcats are a mob of cute and colourful creatures with a taste for global trotting and socks!
The Real Monster Show – an Argentinian brand targeting 6-11 year olds with an anti-bullying and inclusive message. Has the potential to move into TV animation.
The three finalists in the Brand & Design award category are:
Animals – the creation of Sarah Burman features colourful and quirky animal designs in a slightly retro style and unique patchwork texture.
Blubz – consist of cute blue smudges that came accidentally to life, with copy by Drew Bristow.
Pabuku – a brand with high-end, vintage style imagery and a contemporary twist. (pictured)
The two winners will receive a free exhibition stand at BLE 2019, one year’s LIMA membership, PR support and advice from a panel of industry experts, plus legal consultation from License This sponsor, Wynn-Jones.
